After her artistic and academic education, Dr. Berit Sahlström taught African art history general art history at Uppsala University. She worked as a researcher and lecturer in Uppsala, Linköping and Gävle universities and she was a project leader in bilateral research and education projects with Univ. of Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa. She taught courses in artistic development/theory and practice. She has published in the fields of cultural studies, art critic and African art history. She has contributed with illustrations to Encyclopaedia Aethiopica, book covers for Sylvia Pankhurst, Citizen of the World, by S. Harrison, and illustrations to Woven Into the Tapestry.
